Slater Farms Biodynamic Rice is sustainably grown on a biodynamic family farm in northern NSW purely using rainwater.
This certified organic 100% rain-fed medium grain rice doesn't require irrigation but does require warmth and high summer rainfall to grow, which is perfectly matched to NSW’s Northern Rivers Region.
The rice is processed on-farm using Brett’s newly built mill, to eliminate any unnecessary food miles.
Biodynamic farming is a deeper form of organic farming that works on the fundamental principle that the farm is a living organism. It’s all about balancing the ecological inter-relationship of soil, plants and animals as a self-nourishing system without external inputs.
Until recently, all rice in Australia was grown in 'flood' irrigated paddies. According to the CSIRO regular rice farming needs around 1550L of water to grow just 1kg of rice. With water being such a precious commodity in Australia today, Slater Farms Rain-fed Rice is both good for you and good for the land as well.
RRP comparison - usually $15 kg.
