This powder is earth safe, biodegradable, grey water and septic safe with no artificial fragrance, palm oil or animal testing. It’s boosted by the natural antibacterial and antifungal power of pure Australian Lemon Myrtle oil and a little bit goes a long way – just 1 heaped teaspoon is all you need for a regular dishwasher cycle, so a 5kg box will last a few years depending on how often you run your cycle. It’s made by a natural cleaning company in a small town in regional NSW, so by buying a 5kg box you’re directly supporting regional NSW and also saving yourself a lot of packhorse trips to the shops.
Our supplier will soon change over the packaging to a new bulk cardboard box and low density polyurethane liner which will mean 90% less plastic than the current packaging, however for now the powder does come in a recyclable plastic tub.
In terms of usage ideas - the tubs have a sealable lid, so they are handy for bringing food scraps back home from the office kitchen to add to your compost bin, or soaking little stained t-shirts in the laundry. Still not ideal packaging but it's a process...
I did the maths and if you usually buy the leading brand of dishwashing powder tablets they cost about 50 cents per load. A 5kg box of this dishwashing powder gives you 330 loads, which would be the equivalent of $165 worth of tablets(!) for just $45... plus if you think of all of the chemicals we're keeping out of our waterways it's a no brainer really... Did I mention it actually works really well to clean the dishes!?
